Our oils
Genuine cold-pressed oils are 100% natural—that is, untreated. They contain plenty of sun, fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, and enzymes in their natural form. Thus, in addition to their exquisite flavor, they also provide us with a host of benefits for the body and contribute significantly to a balanced diet. We press our oils below 37°C. At these lower temperatures, the valuable natural nutrients and vital substances provided by Mother Nature are preserved. The precious ingredients for these exquisite drops of gold come from selected raw oilseeds and nuts, which we process using a gentle cold-pressing process. Obtaining our cold-pressed raw oil requires patience, time, and good seeds.
To avoid destroying the valuable ingredients, you shouldn't heat the oils. With the exception of coconut and cooking oil, which aren't affected by hot temperatures.
Our ingredients
All of the raw materials we process are organically farmed or come from conventional farming methods, where we know the farmers and their practices personally and can trust their quality. We use only raw seeds and nuts of the highest table quality, because only from clean, unroasted, and properly stored seeds can we produce a deliciously flavored oil. Sustainability in food processing is important to us, which is why we ensure the complete utilization of our raw materials. The sediment is made into pulp, and we make flour from the pressed seeds or pass it on to the farmers as animal feed.
For cold pressing
Cold-pressed or virgin are terms that may be used in the food industry for oils if no external heat was added to the oil extraction process. Unfortunately, there are many cold-pressed oils in circulation that don't really deserve this name. To achieve a higher yield, the seeds are often chopped, heated, or roasted before pressing. The heat opens the pores of the seeds, allowing more oil to be extracted. Furthermore, rapid pressing creates a lot of pressure and thus a lot of frictional heat. As a result, there are certainly "cold-pressed" oils that reached 100°C or more during pressing, thus losing flavor and quality.

Our work processes involve a great deal of dedication and time. We have set ourselves the goal of producing healthy, high-quality oil and bringing time-honored vegetable oils back to our plates.
Judith is the founder of Gold Ölmühle Zürich. The Zurich-based manufacturer was inspired by mantras that led to the delicious almond oil produced by Parvinder Singh in India. Judith's Vorarlberg roots, where cold-pressed oil is highly valued, and a great love of natural foods.
Jordi provides the daily inspiration and practical support needed in a young company. Iwan lends a hand when seed deliveries arrive and provides poetry and disco balls in the workplace.
